Creating beautiful spaces with a family and a budget

How I got here

Welcome to this blogging journey of mine. If you know me you know I can never get enough of remodeling spaces in my home. Making them more useful while also coherent and beautiful is on my mind almost constantly. My dad is a contractor so I grew up around house construction and remodels. Helping him on his job sites was one of my favorite things. All that time spent onsite inspired me to be an Interior Designer and Space Planner. I especially love designing remodels. Now that I have my own house I can remodel how I want, what I want, and usually when I want (often with dad’s help and knowledge). I just have two hold ups; projects eat my money, and kids eat my time and energy. So how can I make a space I want with no money and no time??

As far back as I can remember I’ve wanted to build my dream house. Huge windows, large patio, spacious kitchen, and a hot tub and pool of course. And while all of that could potentially still be in my future, reality hit; inflation, family expenses, sporting activities, the list could go on for days. I was going to have to find a way to enjoy a place I could afford. So I have. I don’t have a perfect solution. But I can share what I’ve learned over the years of doing projects with a family and a budget.

In this blog I’m hoping to share projects I’ve done in the past, explain some of my reasons for why I did what I did, explain the size of budget I had and how I stuck to it, and hopefully inspire you to do your own projects. Eventually I will start sharing weekly the projects I’m doing in the moment and add all the details I can that might help you find ways to stick to your budget and time constraints. I’m excited to share this blogging journey with you!
